FAQ

What is a library staff advisory group?

Advisory groups will meet regularly to make recommendations for best practices and system settings, and to assist CCS in updating documentation and procedures. Read the full job description.

How are advisory groups selected?

Library staff were self-nominated with director approval or nominated by their director. CCS staff assembled the rosters considering:

  • Distribution of seats across libraries

  • Balance of new and returning group members

  • Diversity of service areas for Database Management and User Experience

How are items added to advisory group agendas?

Agenda items are contributed by library staff in a number of ways, including but not limited to:

  • Help desk tickets about issues affecting all CCS libraries

  • Topics brought up at technical group meetings where additional discussion and input is needed

  • Polaris configuration decisions CCS and Innovative staff need additional library staff insight on

Library staff can suggest an item for discussion by emailing help@ccslib.org. CCS staff will prioritize agenda items as needed.

How often do advisory groups meet?

Advisory groups meet quarterly. Meeting dates, agendas, and minutes are linked above.

Advisory group members are also required to attend related technical group meetings. For example, members of the Circ/ILL Advisory Group would attend either the Circulation or Interlibrary Loan Technical Group meetings. Members of cross-departmental groups like the User Experience Advisory Group or Database Management will attend technical groups that are appropriate to their area of expertise.
