Governing Board has drafted a living document that will guide the CCS Implementation Team and Library Staff Advisory Groups as we move forward into the profiling and mapping phase of the migration. Through the project, all decisions will be made with the following goals in mind, in addition to our overarching strategic plan initiatives.
DELIVER THE OPTIMAL PATRON EXPERIENCE
Enhancing the patron experience will be the driving force behind all relevant migration decisions. Throughout the process, we will focus on making choices that will benefit library users.
MOVE TOWARDS STANDARDIZATION
ENABLE CONSISTENT REPORTING
Differing practices between libraries can lead not only to support issues, but also to confusion for patrons. When possible, we will move towards standardization and focus on using the product as designed in order to provide a consistent experience for patrons across all libraries.
For comparative reporting to be most useful, libraries need to collect comparable data. Creating clearer patron, item, and bibliographic data standards during a migration will give us a solid foundation for the future.
SAVE LIBRARY STAFF TIME
CCS staff and libraries have many manual or custom processes in place for a variety of reasons. Moving forward, whenever possible, we will choose the delivered, automated solution. By allowing the system to do what it is designed to do, library staff will reduce the amount of time they spend on manual or duplicate processes. It will also reduce opportunities for error and improve the patron experience.
