Even though the go-live date is in the past, CCS continues to offer Polaris-themed training for both Public Services and Technical Services staff. Post go-live training is led by CCS staff and are focused, half-day sessions. Training will continue to be held at the CCS Office (3355 N. Arlington Heights Road, Suite J, Arlington Heights, IL 60004-7706).

This two hour session introduces staff to Leap, the Polaris web-based client. During the session, staff will gain a better understanding of the Leap interface and bib, item, and patron records; review basic searching in the Find Tool; and learn about placing and modifying holds. Prerequisites: No previous experience with Leap is needed.

This session dives into three circulation-related topics: patron associations, notices, and patron troubleshooting. During the session, attendees will learn about the Polaris Associations functionality and how to set them up. We’ll also dig into all things notices – configuration, troubleshooting, and staff maintenance responsibilities. The session will end with looking at how to gather information from Polaris to help troubleshoot patron issues. Prerequisites: basic knowledge of Leap and patron/item/bib records; basic searching.

Interested in a workaround for saving a search setup? Or for tips on how to make record sets work for you? Sign up for the Public Services Topics training session! In this session, attendees will learn how to create and save a Power Search in Leap to streamline searching. We’ll also review at how to create record sets and manipulate existing sets. Finally, attendees will look at certain holds functionalities, like grouping holds and modifying the holds queue, to help better serve patrons. Prerequisites: basic knowledge of Leap and patron/item/bib records; basic searching; placing a hold.
