How to Prepare: Training PAC Upgrade to HTTPS
CCS upgraded the test PowerPAC to secure HTTPS on Monday, November 19th. The URL for the test PAC is now https://ccs-training.polarislibrary.com/polaris/.
Our production PowerPAC will not be updated until February 2019 (after the Morton Grove migration), allowing CCS and library staff ample time to test and troubleshoot any potential issues!
During this time, CCS will test and modify:
URL changes in system administration, including web part links, custom content links, header/footer menu links, and enriched content
Integrated eResource links
General PAC functionality
Libraries should do the following:
Test general PAC functionality (searching, placing holds) to see if there is any interference with load times
Check PAC customizations (including custom scss, widgets, custom pages)
Note where PAC URLs may need to be updated. This includes links/search widgets on library websites, Baker & Taylor/Ingram/vendor websites, Communico, Google Analytics, PAC deep links, promotional materials and library social media accounts
Note: do not make any changes to the URLs yet - just note where you will need to make changes once production is updated
There will be a redirect from the unsecured site to the secured HTTPS site. However, libraries may want to inform patrons about the change closer to February in case they have the old site bookmarked and experience any lags during the redirect.
If you notice any issues, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Additional updates will be posted and issued to libraries closer to February.
