PowerPAC Configuration

A number of PowerPAC configuration elements are shared across all library PowerPAC interfaces. The PAS Advisory Group and PAS Technical Group worked with CCS to establish our initial PowerPAC settings leading up to and following go-live. Moving forward, the User Experience Advisory Group will consult with CCS on configuration changes based on user testing.

PowerPAC has three different displays that are configured separately for monograph and serial records:

Below is an overview of the current fields that show as part of the monograph configuration for each display in PowerPAC (as of May 2019). Serial configuration will be added to the portal next week.

Brief Display for Monograph Records

The brief display is the information shown in initial search results (below).  The brief display information appears along with the book cover in a list of search results.

Cover Image and Format

  • Cover Images are provided by Syndetics. Library staff can email help@ccslib.org to report incorrect cover images.

  • The Format Icon indicates the Bibliographic Type of Material, or TOM. Users can click the format icon to view the MARC record:

Zones 1-5

There currently are five different zones configured in the brief display. These zones contain information pulled from either the bibliographic record or, in the case of call number, the item record. If there is no information available in a given field, that field will not show in the brief display. For example, in the example below, Zone 2 does not display, because this record is not an ebook, and is not part of a resource group.
