Set User Print Options for Receipts and Slips

In Leap, printer options are set by the Polaris workstation.  These options can be viewed or changed in the Settings menu:

1. In the upper right corner, click on your username.

2. Select “Settings.”

3. The “Print Options” tab lists several workforms and the types of receipts/slips available to print in each.  For each workform, enable the receipts and slips that you’d like to print.

4. Click Save.

Notes:

  • If the patron typically receives eReceipts, it’s possible to prevent a paper receipt from printing.  Under “Check out receipt” select the option for “only if no eReceipt.” If this option is not checked, the patron will receive both a paper receipt and an eReceipt.

  • If staff does not normally print checkout receipts, leave the option to print checkout receipts unchecked.  Instead, when a patron would like a checkout receipt, staff can select the option to Print or press CTRL+P.  This must be done BEFORE pressing the “Complete” button

Checkin Receipt Fields

Check-in receipts can be manually printed from a Check-in workform. After a patron’s items have been checked in, the staff member can select one or more items to print. Polaris will then print receipts for these items grouped by patron.

The information listed on the Check-in receipt is defined in the Administration Settings in Polaris. The default settings are shown below. These settings cannot be viewed or changed by individual library staff. In order to make changes to these fields, please open a ticket with CCS staff.

Checkout Receipt Fields

Checkout receipts can be printed after any completed checkout or renewal. They can be printed from either the “Checkout” or “Patron Status” workforms.

The information listed on the Checkout receipt is defined in the Administration Settings in Polaris. The default settings are shown below. Libraries submitted their preferred settings during profiling. These settings cannot be viewed or changed by individual library staff. In order to make changes to these fields, please open a ticket with CCS staff.

Fields selected in this menu will appear on both printed and e-mail receipts.  Text message receipts are also configured here, but are done separately.

Notes:

  • “Print receipts only with prompt” – this setting only affects activity in the Polaris staff client.  It has no effect on the behavior of the Leap Web App.

  • The Leap equivalent is the setting called “Prompt for eReceipt configuration in Leap.”  When this setting is enabled and eReceipts have been set up at both the Leap login branch and the patron’s branch, staff will be prompted if the patron does not receive eReceipts. By default this option is disabled.

  • “Include custom note from printed receipts” – this setting refers to custom text that is supplied by the library.  Instructions on adding custom text are below. This option determines whether that text will also appear on eReceipts.

Set receipt printer message text

A custom message can be added to the end of each printed receipt. These messages can be used to communicate information about the library, including library hours, upcoming programs, or changes in loan policies. While this process only needs to be done once per branch, receipt text can be changed at any time, provided the staff member has the correct permissions.

Note: This setting is changed in the Polaris staff client (not in Leap).  This text is used by both the staff client and Leap Web App.

  1. From the Polaris Shortcut Bar, select “Circulation” – “Options”

  2. Select the “Receipt Printer Options” tab

  3. Enter the custom message that will appear in the message text area. This message will appear on receipts printed from all of your workstations, including Leap

  4. Click OK

Hold Slip Fields

Libraries have the option of printing “Hold Slips” or “Hold Pickup Slips” for their patron’s holds.  Hold slips display more information about the patron/item and are meant to be placed inside the item. Hold pickup slips display a portion of the patron’s name and can be placed around the outside edge of an item – ideal for self-service holds.

The information listed on the Hold slip is defined in the Administration Settings in Polaris. The default settings are shown below. Libraries submitted their preferred options during profiling. These settings cannot be viewed or changed by individual library staff. In order to make changes to these fields, please open a ticket with CCS staff.
