Changing Status of Items to Withdrawn

Option 1: Update Individual Item Record

  • Search for the item record by barcode.

  • Open the item record.

  • Use the mouse to change Circulation Status to Withdrawn.

  • Click on the save icon or CTRL-S

Option 2: Create an Item Record Set and Bulk Change the Status

Putting items in a record set:

  • Create a new record set by clicking on the blank piece of paper in the corner of the Polaris main toolbar. Scroll down and select “Record Set” then click the OK button.

  • You will see a new window where you can select the kind of record set you are creating. In this case, select “Item.”

  • Follow the Naming Conventions of your library for record sets. Each record set name has to be unique. It is recommended that you begin the name of the record set with your library's three letter code so it can easily be found again. In this example we named it “KM Withdrawn Items 2-1-2018.”

  • Change the Owner to your own library.

  • You can add a note to further describe the set. For example you might add, “Romance books brought to TSD by skm”

  • Make sure to click on the floppy disk to save your record set.

  • Click on the button that looks like a barcode with a blue plus sign. This is in the middle of the screen. A new window will pop up.

  • Begin scanning item barcodes.

  • When you are done, click on the Close button.

  • Click on the floppy disk to save your record set.

TIP: You can double-check your work by making sure the count of items in the record set matches the number of items on the cart.

Now that your record set is complete, you can bulk change the status of the items:

  • Click on the Bulk Change icon.

  • Click on the Circulation tab.

  • Click on the box to the left of Circulation status.

  • Choose Withdrawn from the pull-down menu to the right of Circulation status.

  • Click on OK.

  • Click on Continue.

  • Click on OK.

  • The Item Status for the items in the record set should now be changed to Withdrawn.
